Tuesday, 14 July 2009 12:07 Written by Urbanatomy Can’t be arsed to throw some spaghetti in a pan? Bored of munching your way through the dough-fix of Papa John’s or Pizza Hut’s death-by-pizzas? Sherpa’s are trying to change it up by expanding their Italian options on their delivery menus, La Venexia and La Gondola are the newest Italian offerings in Puxi, on Panyu Lu and Henan Lu respectively. Venexia specializes in food from the Alps to Sicily with a Mediterranean twist. With Ched Armando reckoning his star dish is the Southern Italian seafood soup. Pizzas and pastas are the perfect food for delivery so the Italian section is getting more and more massive by the week. Casa Mia was the last Italian restaurant added, serving customers around the Shi Men Yi Lu area. They offer free bread (awesome) on all orders over RMB 80. That’s Amore for the Taikang Lu crew, run by two Italian brothers, Vincenzo and Angelo, boasts a real wood fire oven. Pasta Fresca is a perennial fave with Sherpa’s customers, being one of the first Italian restaurants to join way back in 1999. Sherpa’s also works with Gioamia, another old Shanghai fave, formerly known as Pizza Italia, offering value pizzas and run by real Italians from the get-go. Il Panino offers gourmet Italian sandwiches and recently expanded the menu to include pastas and pizzas. Hongqiao boasts Italian food from Pasta Fresca, Macalle, & Porta Nova. Pudong has yet another Pasta Fresca, Bergamo, La Piazzetta, and last but not least, the Kitchen Salvatore Cuomo. Check out www.sherpa.com.cn for all the menus and information on how to order...
