Monday, 11 May 2009 07:05 Written by Jeronia Muntaner I walked into the boxing training room at the Long Wu Kung Fu gym to meet the boxers and watch a training session in preparation for the Sheraton Showdown on June 13th. Ross and Aatika have given me a brief but I underestimated one thing, those brave and perseverant young ladies and gentlemen had very sensitive hearts. If I had not been careful there would have been tears on the training room floor! As I stood in the middle of the training room, holding my laptop, we watch some heart warming videos of Half the Sky babies with their caring nannies. The nannies were there because the boxers from The Brawl on the Bund donated all the proceeds to the Fuzhou centre of Half the Sky in December last year so I went to show them the faces of the babies that they fought for last year. I was also hoping to give them some encouragement for the next boxing matches in June and I hope I did. On behalf of the children in the Half the Sky programs all over China, thank you very much for looking after us. Jeronia Muntaner is the Infant Nurture Program Director for the Half the Sky Foundation (www.halfthesky.org). Proceeds from the charity boxing night The Sheraton Showdown on June 13 will go to Half the Sky. For more information on all of the above and for regualr updates you can visit www.urbanatomy.com/boxing.
